Housing Stability
Lower Rent for Car-Free Living: Currently, many renters pay for a parking spot they don't even use. I'll make sure landlords unbundle those costs, potentially saving car-free families hundreds of dollars a month.
The Legacy Tax Credit: If you've lived in your home for 20+ years, you shouldn't be priced out of it by rising taxes. I'm proposing a special tax credit to freeze those costs for long-time neighbors.
A Compassionate, Housing-First Approach for Unhoused Washingtonians: I believe that homelessness is a policy failure, not a personal one. I will advocate for a surge in Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) vouchers and the expansion of the "DC Flex" program to provide flexible subsidies that prevent families from falling into homelessness. I opposes the criminalization of poverty and will prioritize the creation of 24/7 low-barrier service hubs that provide a direct, dignified path to a stable home.
End the "Utility Squeeze": I will advocate for a freeze on discretionary utility rate hikes for two years while the city conducts a comprehensive "Affordability Audit" of our energy and water infrastructure.
